This is America’s first heavy duty, 100% biodegradable and compostable non-woven reusable shopping bag made from plant-based materials.  Available exclusively from Earthwise Bag Company, Inc., this revolutionary new reusable bag is manufactured from 100% plant starch. The material is a bipolymer made from polylactic acid, which is made from lactic acid, a naturally occurring compound found in food and in the human body. Lactic acid is made from natural plant sugars (dextrose) by fermentation.

The material also carries a distinctive leaf embossing, which distinguishes it from all other reusable bags in the marketplace.  The All-Natural Biodegradable & Compostable Bags are printed with water-based inks, and sewn with cotton thread.

Following several years of research and testing to ensure its strength and durability, this bag rivals other traditional reusable bags. These new non-woven biodegradable and compostable reusable bags will break down naturally. These bags carry the ASTM 6400 certification, a national standard for biodegradability and compostability awarded by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI). Additionally, they are non-toxic, and contain no petroleum. When disposed of into a commercial composting facility, these alternative bags will biodegrade within 90 days. Machine washable and extremely durable, these bags have been tested to hold 50+ lbs.
